Good luck, the source is a mess. Then again I suck at reading it. The linting thing probably will suck balls to deal with too.

The original Cata source isn't so bad, despite what you'll be told. Of course, it didn't have 100 different devs of varying skill fucking with it.
Gone. Cheers guys.

There was a roguelike I played a long time ago that I thought was the original cataclysm, but it probably isn't. Maybe I'll try to track it down.
I think it was zomband.
It was zomband.

Zomband sounds familar. I think. There was some kinda rather simple little zombie-themed roguelike named after an archetypical roguelike, bt not really following the control/gameplay conventions of its namesake. It had a clear endgame of sorts, in that you had a few fixes areas with random spawns, maybe random layouts, and a few different endings based on whether you escaped the city or went after other endgame locations.

Man, Cata's bullshit now. Maybe that's just the 0 town settings talking.

I feel like stuff is randomly disappearing from my inventory. And flaming bushes randomly spread raging fires across low grass. Sometimes during drizzles. I've set myself on fire cooking once so far, that'll hopefully be the last time. Also, cooked meat only restores 28 nutrition now?

Besides that I think my character's doing alright. Readin' through the skillbooks, eating what the mansion has to offer, curing the bear pelts for makin' leather items later. Turned the fat into tallow. I've eaten most of the offal and meat, turned the stomach into a container. There's 20 flechette shells in a cabinet for that double barrel shotgun I found in an LMOE shelter, besides that, no ammo for any applicable guns, just what they've got in them. Got a Tokarev, a Marlin, a flintlock carbine, and some others. Along with a few cans and jars of nonperishable food. And two dried salads. So along with all the dandelions I'm finding, food shouldn't be a problem.

Reading cookbooks and smithing books for now.

Kinda got bored of my last survivor, so trying a permasummer. And instead of disabling cities, I set them to minimum size and maximum dispersion. Also started as a bionic prepper so I could get a headstart on testing that mining mod, and maybe keeping myself knee-deep in the flintlock rounds.

Also, I reinstalled Oblivion. I've still yet to start it.

realizing how defensible a prison is. There's a little 2 tile security checkpoint near that overlooks the entrance that is ideal for holding a turret, an once you've cleared all the furniture out of the visitors lobby, you can line that little room with all sorts of traps. I've also woken up to find that the prisons barbed wire fence has wiped out advancing hordes. Nothing has managed to get inside the prison yet, but there isn't much stopping them. The doors got knocked down early on. Also there's the yard. With a pick axe or a jackhammer, you could convert that into a small area of farm land. I guess when the NPC's get more advanced, you could give them their own rooms in the prison cells.

It might be an interesting thing to do.

Nyet. Dragon mutants maybe, but we don't really need DF-style mug vore in CDDA. >.o

Perigin confirmed for wanting to drink NPCs.

And I recall one adventurer, where I mostly used the barbed wire to kite hulks around after luring them outside.

I feel like nutrition and thirst have been tweaked somewhat. Nothing appears to be filling anymore (except cooked wild vegetables, which I assume were overlooked, as they restore 40 hunger opposed to cooked meat's 28), and it seems my character's getting hungry/thirsty much, much faster than previous versions.

What is the driving skill for now that you don't "wrestle with the controls" anymore?

I have no idea anymore. And yeah, it looks like they nerfed a lot of the go-to survival foods. Then again it's easy to get food anyway. :V

Yeah, it's easy to get the food, it's just annoying, because it's raining non-stop for me, and lighting sticks and such on fire in fields is the only way I have to cook. So then the rain extinguishes it after the first craft, so I've gotta relight it, cook another, whoops, they replenish nothing now, I'm not even outta the "Hungry" zone, repeat three times. Just very annoying.

True. Crafting tinder makes part of that easier thanks to not wasting anything important, at least. :V
