You are a derp. They'll grab thread and cloth as needed even if it isn't IN the hospital. Putting that box there just made them pile almost ALL the cloth in the fort in there. D:

The first enemy shot is loosed, and...two missed right off the bat. Wow, you just fucking WANT to die, it seems. The third shot hits an unnamed war leader in the leg, leaving her floored but not out of the fight, the same warrior blocking the next shot as two comrades rush past her.

Sadly these two are also no-name, green recruits, but it doesn't stop them from trying. Strangely, the remaining four elves are in sight but lingering still. Maybe I was right to RP that as uncertainty.

The bowman is hanging back, not managing much so far, while the crossbowman managed to shoot out one recruit's spear hand. But now...

"Those idiots are leading them here!" One of the elves stammered out, silenced by a long-overdue backhand from Nako, the lasher. "Silence, you little whelp. Fucking cowards..." Funny of him to be calling them that. "Hold your ground, and if those two lure the vermin closer...Arstruk, you know what to do." he said to the remaining bowman, the source of those outbursts. Nako had a plan by now, realizing that the kobold forces were thinning out in the pursuit, just as the first few of his group lacked the discipline to move as one.

If those two just lured the first few kobolds to them, before the rest have time to catch up, they'll get the chance to do to the vermin what they did first.

Then something moronic happened. In the scramble that ensued, he saw the two ranged elves falling back in different directions, both away from the lasher's group. If they were close enough to charge home it'd be perfect, but there was no way he could rally these cowards to charge unless the enemy was right on top of them. And worse, he could see several more of the little bastards, all waving weapons of crude sharpened stone, bone and shell armor cracked and marred, a few charging with only a shield or outright unarmed.

He saw the crossbowelf, seemingly the more competent of the two women, fall back to the north, right as a number of the enemy reached the pair. The other elf fared no better, worse in fact. The larger of the groups that split up to pursue managed to overrun her, knocking her out and displaying savagery right before their eyes.

The crossbowman meanwhile was still struggling, but further weakened as a well-aimed spear thrust somehow managed to sever a hand. She still had her crossbow in her left though, frantically trying to reload and fire bolts into the vermin, seemingly unnerved by the fact she hadn't killed even one of them yet.

At this point the lasher was yelling and cussing up a storm, trying to cow the remaining elves to charge or do something, until finally the remaining crossbowman worked up the nerve to loose a bolt into the melee unfolding before them. Even then if sunk into a recruit's arm, seemingly doing nothing to deter the kobold. "That's it, lay into the savages! Put bolts into them until they're close enough to charge!" the lasher screamed, himself in a frenzy yet still reluctant, fighting the same cowardice that led to him and his cronies deciding to stay put while the first three of them scouted ahead, a cowardice he knew was going to get them all killed.

The injured crossbowelf finally was out cold, and by now most of the enemy was upon them. Enough that only the distraction of ravaging and mutilating the two casualties seemed likely to keep the advancing horde manageable. "Idiots! They're right in front of us, kill them!" Nako yelled, the axeman and woman being the first to make contact with the kobolds.

That was all the orders he'd manage before the field devolved into a chaotic melee, the two archers by now having bled out, leaving the full force of kobolds after the remaining five elves.

The lasher was soon hobbled by a strike that bent the knee, the two axe elves following suit, only the macewoman and archer holding their own. And even then, the kobolds had yet to suffer any visible fatalities, even though a massive number of them were injured in various ways.

And soon enough, both axeelves were dead, the maceman was injured and disarmed, and the bowman was no longer able to keep his allies between the horde and him.

And soon, the lasher died, and the two survivors were out cold. At last, I can stop narrating from their perspective. :V

Chaosvolt meanwhile was nervous, and it showed among the others hiding below. Caconym was by far the biggest cause of worry, having seen an elf lop some poor bold's head right off in front of her. Somehow in the ensuing chaos, she escaped and got back inside, leaving the archer that went with Caconym to rot on the floor of the trade depot.

It wasn't long before she saw Apathetic and others returning, just the archers at first. "Holy hot motherfucking shit, that was good!" the warmaster exclaimed. "We wiped them out! All of you fuckwads, get your asses out there!"

That was enough to relieve Chaosvolt, who joined in, directing things as usual. "Alright, recover the wounded, bury the dead, start sizing up the loot and see what we can salvage." she ordered, before asking Apa. "How many did we lose?"

"Good news and bad news on that. Good news is that we lost only one, the dumb fuck that decided to follow Caconym around instead of getting up top like a proper archer. Bad news is that might change, we have a fuckton of wounded."

And first the most able-bodied of the warriors made it in, showing only minor injures. And the first kobolds to examine the outside would see only a single slain kobold, and the corpse of an elf. It would be when they got to talk to the first few returning warriors, and see the battlefield for themselves, that they'd witness the horror laid out before them.

All told, 19 kobolds were injured in the fight, with 2 injured severely enough to leave what might be a mortal wound.

And sure enough, one of them died during the slow recovery of all the wounded. Couldn't breathe, and faint from blood loss. The second most-borderline is merely faint, but isn't bleeding now and thus will likely live.

Even Salt is out there, dragging the injured in, and soon to try her hand at healing. A shaman can sense the pain and suffering of their kin around them, and she's never felt such pain before. Chaosvolt at least expressed concern over someone of such importance venturing out and trying to help with the wounded, but she insisted.

Of those brought in so far, 5 suffer nerve damage that might render them unable to fight. In the meantime, Wilson and other miners are scrambling to carve more rooms for the injured. Despite the curious fact that one room is mysteriously locked, so far Chaos' rework of the hospital has proved useful, if only because they went from 5 beds to 10, and will soon have 20. Yes, that injured bonecarver is still wasting away in that room.

Lorknis says she's fine. I apparently believe otherwise. Of the named kobolds, only Six and Lorknis are injured, and both look like they'll be okay. Meanwhile Salt is helping tend to the injured, while I'm making splints and crutches.

With almost all the wounded secured, I finally have the chance to show this off. This is what makes sieges worth it. Any clothes or armor kobolds have a crude equivalent to, you can refit from bigger versions. Armor that has no kobold equivalent can also be refitted, but with less chance of success. Non-armor clothing that has no kobold equivalent can ONLY be dismantled for cloth or leather.
