Once you know what you are doing, the game becomes a series of scavenger hunts and pointless challenges.

Not if you play Cataclysm with your friends. We have a Dropbox save that we play on, and we have our own save files on the same world. We have built villages, traded with eachother, hell, even been mercenaries. It's fun and very different to the usual DDA feel.
