"Wait, destruction? QUICK, start looking for cash and shit to sell" Donovan said, running into the room at far to quick a pace, and starting to rifle through the wreckage.. " hey, if a few things go missing in the rescue, who will know?"

Blackjack squinted up at the thing and her eyes widened. Fucking hell, all of the others had to go inside, didn't they? She looked around, searching for a ladder or something that'd help her get up. Failing that, she'd sprint into the building and explain to the others what she saw.

The floors creaked under Thomas and the crew's combined weight, its wooden-wailing grated on Thomas's shooken nerves. He wasn't the type of man that did well in abandoned buildings, saw a man fall straight through some water damaged floors once; the sight was horrid, amongst the shards of disgusting wooden planks, laid a broken and battered man with sharp bones jutting from his steely sailor skin. That was also the last time Thomas was ever on the exploration team, took the rest of the crew hours to coerce Thomas down from his perch.

Whether the fear was from that disgusting sensation of "freedom" that comes with falling, or the fact that he'd end up widowing his wife in one step. He didn't like places where he'd have to 'watch his step'.

With a heavy feeling like a cannon ball sitting in his gut, he took a deep breath and slowly proceeded towards the wrecked dressers, hoping to find some clues as to what happened to the previous owners.

[PLAYING AS Zar Volkrum]

Zar, for once, decided to follow after Donovan and rummage through for some... extra coin and perhaps some prizes to take back.

Plenty of papers lie across the ground among broken objects, and both diligent parties are able to scrutinize the crucial areas of interest. One being the desk, the other being the dresser that has been ripped apart. As Allan looked around, there wasn't bloodstains but clearly the room screamed signs of trouble and a dire fight. There were slash marks along the edges of walls, and the desk which was leaning to the side threatening to fall over, looked like someone brought down a large blade right into the center.

On the desk, papers hanged off the crisp corners. To Allan, he couldn't make much of it, but it looked like record keeping and various transactions papers. One, had a note clipped to it.

> TRANSACTION PAPER + SMALL NOTE FOUND

The dresser looked like it had been thoroughly picked clean, but there must've been for some reason, and Thomas was curious as to why it had been. Being the First Mate, he had to know how to search things, like the crews belongings without them knowing. It was obvious this person had been looking for something. Drawers were ripped out of place, clothing pilled elsewhere, pockets out turned and mantles were broken.

SKILL CHECK {Challenging Difficulty}{ROLLED: 19 + 2 }{PASSED}

One drawer had everything ripped out of it. Thomas felt the bottom of it and could feel the board push down and rise back up. It was a fake bottom. He pulled out the edges and revealed a small box, encrusted with pearl and enchanted with the insignia of a Crab. The box felt heavy.

Fortunately for the quick thinking Blackjack, a ladder is back around the corner for roofers to fix the constantly breaking roofs. Not that they cared about that problem out in the East Side of Vinbright, but it was the sentiment that counted, and now, it really counted. Blackjack threw herself up the ladder, blood pumping, she could feel her bandage getting wet. The black silhouette had finally crossed the tight bridge, and with remarkable elegance and grace, he was leaping over boxes and stubby chimneys. Illuminated by some of the windows rising up and lights poking through, she could see distinguishable features now.

> The man was carrying someone else over his shoulder.
> Wearing compact, tight fitting, sleek outfit that glinted in light.
> A hood draped over his face, but something poking out from underneath.
> An emblem on the back of his uniform, that of a pale crab.

He was already racing off into the darkness, but could be caught up to...

Hibou Allan picks up the papers and squints at them in the low light. "Lot o' numbers 'ere. A' least they han'nt been killed o'er it, eh? He says to Thomas. "An' wuzzis?" He looks at the small note, and tries his best to read it.

Knowing what these fools would do if they were to ever find the box (most likely not returning it to the Captain) he grabbed a bundle of clothes. Wrapped it around the beautifully sea-decorated box, and made his way back to the ship. "I'm taking these clothes back to the ship, might make for good fuel for the more colder days out at sea." Shouting up the stairwell, he opened the door up and started his journey to report back to the Captain with the box he found.

Blackjack was no acrobat, but she was a soldier, and a damn good one at that. She drew her pistol and leveled it at the figure in the distance, waiting a moment to aim before squeezing the trigger.

THE CREW HEARD THE SOUND OF A GUNSHOT RING THROUGH THE HOUSE AND THROUGH THE ALLEYS || SOMETHING IS HAPPENING TO: BLACKJACK

Blackjack pulled the trigger, and with a flinch of the arm and a puff of smoke,

SKILL CHECK {Challenging Difficulty}{ROLLED: 14}{PASSED}
Spoiler: Note: (hover to show)

...she could hear something drop. Once the smoke had dissipated, she could see the target stumbling over, the body hunched over the figure is no longer in sight. Next to the fleeing figure is a crumpled body. The shot shadow limps away in agony and at half pace.

Upon closer inspection, Allan was able to make out... some of the text. He wasn't that book smart or anything; books were fuel!

Thomas begins his trek back when he hears gunfire just as he steps a few feet away from the shop. Everyone inside stands around for a moment.

"Shit... shit!" Stuffing the ornate box in his coat, he pulled out his rusted ole' flintlock that just so happened to be loaded at the moment. Slamming his body against the stonewall, he'd take cover, he clicked the hammer back. Ready to fire. Peeking down the alleyway he hoped to see one of his crew running for his help, he'd get to be the hero for once instead of that foolhardy Blackjack.

With a deep breath he'd proceed deeper into the alley taking cover behind something nearby and sturdy.

"SWEET SAINT SEBASTIAN IN A SWIMSUIT, WHAT WAS THAT?"

Donovan grabs the DOSH and jumps into cover.

Allan's confused scrutiny of the letter is interrupted by the sharp retort of a gun in the alley. "Fook!" he blurts, nearly ripping the paper in two. In this same moment, he tries to jump behind the desk, but ends up throwing himself on the desk (engineer's aren't very nimble), and tumbles to the floor behind it. "The 'ell was that? 'Nyun 'urt?"

Satisfied with her shot, Blackjack blew smoke away from the barrel of her pistol before holstering it. She started after the figure, crossing the bridge and sprinting after them with cold determination in her eyes.

----------------------------------- {TIME WARPS, VISION FADES, THE SMELL OF THE CITY DISSIPATES, THE SOUND OF GUNSHOTS CHURN, AND THERE IS A LUMP IN EVERYONE'S STOMACH}-------------------------------

Jolie Vanblough looked out over the peek of the deck and over the crew. Brave, strong, and all the stranger. The long barrel of her revolver rested over the banister of the ship and proudly she spoke, "It's a pleasure to set sail with such faces. Determined and enthused. As you know, death will surely meet us out here as it has met many others. While we will meet with death, we're not going to go over to his house for tea. We will become the richest sailors acclaimed for our valor and prowess. Aboard the Blough, as long as this ship stands, we will conquer. Now, everyone to your positions and prepare for launch. The first mate and I will discuss the first place to go." Then, Jolie walks away from the banister's edge and into the Captain's quarters in the aft of the ship.

The Blough is a medium sized ship with enough horse power to haul the crew around without any delay. While's it's not fitted for the colder regions of the Sunken Sea, the moderate areas prove no issue.

On the bow of the ship is a medium sized gunner station strong enough to take down the creatures of the deep and a pirate ship if need be.

Amidships there is a boom holding up a sail, although it's hardly used unless fuel runs out and a wind from above happens to be blowing.

Close to the bow there is the bridge, and from within the bridge is a hatch leading down into the bilge where the quarters for the crew remain and the bay is also down here in another hatch.

On starboard is a harpoon gun with some extra harpoons safely attached to the side ready to be loaded in.

A lone flame flickers in his cabin, filling the air with the smell of combusted smoke and the faint smell of burning wax as he lit the candle on the far corner of his desk. He then took the match and lit his tobacco filled pipe, taking a deep breath of the smooth flavor and blowing out all the wispy smoke on his desk; it flowing and curling like an ocean's tide dissipating at shore. On his desk were maps, ledgers, and books about places he's been and places he hand't been too. The Captain had been smacking his gums at the crew for the past couple of hours now, introducing the crew, telling them what fine young men and women they are, yadda yadda; chances are these kids'll be dead by the end of the week.

With the muffled shouting of his Captain ceasing and the faint rapping on his door he knew it was time to pick a place to go. "Aye' Cap'n ye be needin' me?", his boots tromping his way into the lavish quarters, maps and notes under his arm. As he waits for a responded he begins sucking on his pipe (smacking his lips in the process), and blows smoke rings into the low-hanging ceiling of the cabin.
