The year is 3044, and things are looking up. No major wars happening, no invasions, and life as a whole is improving in quality for the average person. However, there will always be work for mercenaries like you, as someone will always want someone else dead. you and your group have recently formed a mercenary unit to wage war for fun and profit.
Ok, my shitty introduction skills aside, this is going to be a battletech rp here, with me actually fighting out the battles to the best of my abilities in actual battletech, so as to ensure a element of realism. to the uninitiated, battletech is a tabletop gaming franchise revolving around mechs beating each other up for no real reason other than because people are violent and governments are almost always at war at at least a small scale. its really complex, but no familiarity is needed, and with the time frame i am going for being a noob might be a better option, as then some surprises might be impactfuler (that is a word now) if you have no knowledge of the fluff. ill give a bit of a gameplay mechanics rundown now, as all you guys really need to know is the in between combats stuff.
CONTRACTS
As a mercenary company, the most important part of the job is deciding which of a set of contracts to go on. This is what job you will be doing, who you will be doing it for, for how long, how much it pays, and how much salvage you get from it. (salvage will be covered in next part.). these can be anything from "defend our oil rigs" to "help us load grain onto a ship". i will try to put up a poll so that you can vote on which mission to take.
SALVAGE
This is the second most important part of being a merc. you see, mechs are very complicated, and no one really can make most of them, and when you can get new they are expensive as all hell, so most of your new hardware will be ripped from your defeated foes. basically, try to aim for the face and not total enemies completely.
COMBAT
All combat will be played out in the MegaMek virtual tabletop for battletech, so just say what you would like to do, and i will try to the best of my abilities to act it out in game system.
