Screenshot:I sound the incantation, and a brilliant bright light overtakes me. The ringing in my ears and white light drown out everything, but as I land a blow on the creature, it becomes readily clear that the flash had just as much an effect on the monster. Soon enough I'm the one on the offensive, as this time its tendrils can do little against the leather armor I wear.
Screenshot:Even then it was hard-fought, but soon enough the wicked thing evaporated, sent back to whatever hells it emerged from. I'm not sure I can handle the next one in the area. Instead I sneak along to the higher level, in the hopes that I can gain respite there.
Screenshot:First thing I find is some meager scrap of paper, some note evidently left behind during whatever calamity caused this. I suppose this further confirms what I saw in my travels, before I tried to assail this place. Obvious even to these heretics. No matter. I made my way across the winding path, knowing that this middle level was some object lesson about the easy path being the hardest. Some excuse to booby-trap the shortest walkways.
I ventured upwards and found to my surprise, the area seemed to be empty. I did find a strange sword, black with red markings on it. I realized at once these were emblems of The Sanguine Order. Some conflict between them? I know nearby is one of their accursed sites.
Screenshot:It was on the other end of the walkway I found signs of the cultists. One of them seemed to have been their leader, evidently killed by one of the monsters lingering in the area.
...how'd this chucklefuck get out of his room? And how'd he die?
