You're sitting alone in a firewatch tower that rests on a tall hill that over looks a large pine forest. Outside the cracked and dirt layered windows you can see a oceans of trees, all shapes and sizes stretching for miles in all directions; with the smell of dust, pine, and freshly cut lumber hanging heavy inside your tower's low ceiling interiors.

You lean back in your blocky wooden chair, hoping that it'd help ease the pain in your lower back a little bit. Outside you can see that the Sun is rising to a new beautiful day in the wilderness, its punctuated by a Yankee's game statically coming through your radio.

In front of you is a desk, it contains a mess of papers most of them titled "Today's Work Orders", on the back-end on the left sits your small antenna radio it nosily blaring today's ballgame; in front of the radio is a small desk calender reading "June, 15th, 1953" with a brunette pin-up girl as the picture for 'June'. On the right of the desk is papers, pencils, and sketches of your recent events or things that have been going on in your "domain"; but most of the sketches are of leaves or animals.

Behind you is your living quarters: A hammock with a small end table right next to it, the end table has a lamp, alarm clock, and some books about the dangers of Communism sitting on the edge.

To your left is the narrow and cramped staircase that leads you down to ground level.

To your right is the "supply closet" (its more of a supply nook), things like MREs, canned goods, compasses, toilet paper, water tarps, and a hunting rifle with a few boxes of 308.s all carelessly tossed on top of each other.

Information:

I decided we should try one of these text forum games (that isn't RP) again, only this time making sure your character... now get this... has no character. The person you play as is basically all your self-projections, you can call it a he, she, xem, der, gir, or whatever pronoun you prefer; but it will always remain neutral.

Why? Because it fits with the theme of this game which is: You're nothing but a nameless pawn stuck somewhere in the western wilderness or some popular national forest (you can't really remember where at this point), your job is simple to report any suspicious activity to the Ranger station. What kind of activity? Soviet, Red, or anything that poses a danger to the security and safety of the America! But there's a catch like always to add some form of gimmick to a already gimmicky thing, you don't get supplies all that often, so you'll end up having to ration what you've got. Once you begin I'll give you a set number of supplies.

So think of Papers, Please meets The Long Dark. I didn't really know how to set this up, but I really wanted to do something about exploring a giant forest somewhere near California and Oregon.

So in order to start just post a command and I'll write a description.

Examples of Orders:

You can look, read, pick up, use, etc... the basic Text-Based Adventure game stuff.

He decides to remind himself what the Work Orders are for the day. Perhaps there was something he missed last time he had read them.

... you shuffle through the piles, sifting paper over paper, looking over dates until you find today's

SUCCESS! After a quick flip through several papers, and a few annoyed sighs you finally find today's orders. The paper is still warm off the printer and the stench of ink streams off the 'Times New Roman' typeface. You begin to read it intently...

Work Order for 'June, 15th, 1953'

You're to investigate Grid: [Alpha, X:-153, Y:32] There have been reports of strange sounds and whispers coming from the area, we have reasons to believe it might be a crashed Soviet Bomber of unknown make/model. If you find any of its crew alive, attempt to detain them. Only use lethal force if necessary.

Your reward in the next supply drop will be as follows: 3 packs of Akimbo Jones bubble gum, 2 rolls of Softush toilet paper, 1 pack of Experimental Water Purifying tablets, and 1 free coupon book that will be sent to any known relatives.

With that you quickly take inventory of what you have, open up your field manual titled, "AJ Brand Tutorial" and start reading about needs which is presented in a cute diagram explaining everything that might be forth-wall breaking. Finally you look on the map and trace the given coordinates to somewhere close to you in the North West you might have to comb around the area and use the old hiking trails to find what you're looking for.
Prepare Accordingly...

Needs Tutorial: Your basic human functions and you (Title will be changed to just "Needs" once you leave the Tower)

DISCLAIMER: You don't actually need to read the tutorial, it mainly shows what "math" I'll be using to count how far the bars will deteriorate. And the description of what each bar does will still be there after the "tutorial".

Spoiler: Needs Tutorial (hover to show)

((Yep its a lot to take in. But I'll have little notifications written up when you're hungry and stuff. Once you head downstairs to the wilderness you get your fashionable medical satchel and be off on an adventure.))

She checks the map once again, and guesses to the best of her ability how long it would take to travel the distance. With that in mind, she checks what time it is and makes a mental note of it.

... You check the map, tracing it with your finger from the tower over to the alleged "crash site" location

Spoiler: Rolled Dice (hover to show)

UNSURE! By guesstimating from what little knowledge of the real distance or its measurements, you think it might be a 3 to 5 hour hike all the way up to the grid that the crash is located in. That's not even accounting for how long you'll be sweeping the grid trying to find the damn plane.

... You take a quick peek at the alarm clock on the end table

6:30AM it reads in its bold red numbering, so you'll have almost all day to find out where this crash is. And by the time you'll reach the grid it'll be noon... that is if you don't get lost along the way.

[[So does having each turn take 5 mins in-game sound good to you guys?]]

If each turn is 5 minutes, that means we would go to 0 hunger in 4.16 hours.

The new needs system in a nutshell:

Spoiler (hover to show)

I won't bore you with the math, but know that everything is basically on a time limit, when you're heading somewhere make sure to tell me if you're walking, jogging, sprinting, or running to the destination. Other then that I'm ready to do this.

[[Lucky for you time doesn't start till you leave the tower... unlucky for you all your stats will be rolled once you leave. But you won't be starving right as soon as you leave. I'll add plus and minus modifiers on what needs it (that way you don't go into go into severe-dehydration and piss yourself at the same time)]]

[[Also I hope you guys know you're all playing as the same guy. I mean you can call it a him, her, it, shim, shin, like I said before. But you're all basically steering, taking care of, and loading up one person with inventory.

... You grab some gear and put it in your pack

You stuff your pack to the brim with food stuffs, stick the baton-like flashlight in the shoulder strap pocket, put your rifle through the loop on the right side of the pack, and then grab a few boxes of rounds and stick them in the small ammo pouch the carelessly dangles off the left side of the pack.

She decides to take a roll of toilet paper and a compass as well. Not dying of thirst or hunger is one thing, but if you're not dying while lost and smelling like shit, you might as well be dead.

He takes a moment before finally heading after the Commies to sing the national anthem and give pledge to the flag. Certainly the trip will be rather long and rather difficult, and if faced with brain-dead Commies, it was a good idea to wash his mind over by pledging his allegiance to this great country through song.
