Typically we don't celebrate the Easter Rising, it was only a big thing this year because it was exactly 100 years since it.
We do have another celebration in march, something to do with some dude getting rid of snakes (the romantic* version).

*This definition of romantic: "of, characterized by, or suggestive of an idealized view of reality."

100 years ago the Irish stabbed us in the back because we were busy with WW I and ended up getting more of their own people killed than ours.

Edit: I've realised I should clarify, while I don't dislike the Irish, I'm somewhat bitter about their revolutions due to my family fighting in some of them and the fact that most forms of the Irish Republican Army are terrorists, and they're the ones involved in a lot of revolutions.

Almost literally a back-stab. WWI was precisely way it was then, brits busy elsewhere.
As for the IRA, they weren't always a terrorist group.
