It's not even all that greasy, cooking it produces less excess grease than a couple strips of bacon. Raw SPAM tastes of generic cold meat, while fried tastes like heaven. As long as you don't eat too much that is. Personally, I can put away an entire can but some people have to stop after one or two slices as they get tired of the flavor. An old favorite of one of my relatives is a cold SPAM sandwich. It's basically a BLT with raw SPAM. No, not raw SPAM instead of bacon, it's the entire BLT with the inclusion of a slice of cold SPAM. It's not terrible, but the taste of cold spam leaves you feeling like you are missing something, namely the flavors that are released when it is fried.
