1000$ is a respectable budget, just remember to allow for some wiggle room on that though. The laptop I use is a dell which cost 1100$ (before tax) and came out in 2011. A non laptop PC shouldn't cost as much and will be more powerful. Dell is alright, but at least look around for something else. My laptop has many broken external bits. case, bezel, etc. and I've had to replace the various components of the power cord several times, I replaced the hard drive and the keyboard, and also the screen. except for the screen, all the damaged or burned out bits were due to no fault of mine. It's was more Dell's shoddy build quality. I only bring this up to say, try to go for something more durable than a dell. Someday I will get a new one, but for now Ill just keep replacing parts on this broom until it isn't the same broom anymore.
