I suspect religious reasons.

There is probably no more terrible instance of enlightenment than the one in which you discover your father is a man — with human flesh.

Religious reasons are the worse reasons and are completely useless. Also dicks fits pretty well in the ass.

Well, only after lubrication and a bit of luck/practice.
I kid, but honestly, each there own, just don't be a dick about it. That's how I feel about all issues like this.

That piece may fit but...its just inefficient for anything other than pleasure seeking,  which can lead to its own problems.

As for religious reasons, religion has kept me out of trouble.  I have never taken drugs, been in a fight, swore at authority, and it takes an insanely long time for me to become angry.

You don't need religion for any of that.

Religion is a good thing of taken in appropriate dosages. Its when people OD that a problem happens. Comparing faith to drugs is probably offensive, but its a good enough metaphor for how I feel about it. I live on the borderline of the American south (literally, for you non united statesers, look up the Missouri compromise), so most folks around here are religious. My town of very few people has 5 churches as an example. One of the two guys who have been my friends since age 4 is a intensely religious guy, but we get along fine with minor poking fun every once in a while. This is a good, normal dosage. An OD, as I tactlessly put it, would be most other people around here, who are almost literally insane off of it. I really regret telling anyone I am an Atheist, cause people try to torment me with that a lot. I found a quote a while back, it sums this up well
"Religion is like a Penis. Its ok to have one, and normal to feel at least a little proud of it. But try to force it down my throat and....."
I need to stop night posting, cause this will probably seem a lot less coherent when I read it later.

I do. Lork, You might not know this about me but the thpughts that run through my head go straight from genocide to petting puppies in about two seconds. Without religion, I'd be a terrible person, I can tell.

So, while it isn't required by some, it brings order to my life and makes me peaceable, gives me good qualities that my peers could not, it gives hope for something better and gives me true purpose in life.

While unfortunate I understand where you're coming from. I just wish it wouldn't form your opinions from a 2000 year old book written by people who believed that a God sending bear to maul and kill 42 children over making fun of a bald spot is ok.

Dude, if it keeps him from having a psychotic break, let him have it uncontested. My thoughts are the same way exodus, and I think most people are like that. You either find a way to cope with the madness, or you go loony and stabby. I use video games and other fiction. Some use religion, some turn to drinking heavily, but everyone finds a way. I'm going to split the thread really quick.

I was actually about to suggest the split but it looks like you beat me to the punch. Also I said it was alright for him to believe in a Spooky Sky Ghost but I wish it didn't form his opinions.

Why not? I don't see much bad or good in religions. Its how people apply them, including the belief of non-believing: Atheism. Religion's are founded on some good 'life' principals about not murdering, or committing crime or you're punished in the afterlife. And that's all well and good, but I do also see where you're coming from.

While mainly on private parts and where we stick'em. I do agree, that having a punishment for having a different belief system is kinda bullshit, that's the reason why I became Agnostic (a weird form of Agnosticism), I think there is some form of higher power, but I don't think we've found it or actually understand it.

I mean we have three full religions based off of one deity, all of them have killed each other over the decades, all of them still disagree on things, and most of them have deluded their belief structures depending on the decade. There are reasons why I don't care for religion.

But if it provides comfort or some form of belief structure to someone out there, even if they do disagree with mine. I don't care, if they're happy, they're happy. In this increasingly 'wordy' world that has actually become less violent, I don't mind having a few people that disagree or believe in something different.

I find it fascinating. And I have no idea what I just said or if it made sense, I need more Dew.
