If it weren't for minecraft, the markets wouldn't be inundated with similar games and games with half ass crafting systems. If it weren't for rogue, we wouldn't have roguelikes, and if it weren't for roguelikes, we wouldn't have hundreds of games claiming to be roguelike when they are not and are in fact, platformers, strategy games, shmups, etc. etc. etc. The first legend of zelda game on the NES was an innovator in that it had save slots. No console game before zelda had the ability to save your game so you could continue playing later. Legend of Zelda is responsible for a major feature in video gaming. We also owe a huge portion of shitty youtube videos to minecraft.
