I personally find it amusing when a video game allows you to take lives with devices intended to save them. Especially rewarding when I run across an inattentive enemy or two (usually a sniper) who just sits there.

So don't starve together is out of early access. Did you know that DST is canon as what happens to the characters from the single player game after the story has been completed? That's why all the single player games characters are available for use in DST, Including Maxwell.

So I'm actually playing Cataclysm again.

I've got a really badass guy named Cedrick who's going strong. He lives in the evac shelter next to an enormous town, and so far his tactic is to rush in, get a bunch of zombies tailing him, pop some Adderall and chew some caffeinated chewing gum, then spend three hours beating every single zombie in the immediate area to death with his entrenching tool. Then he loots to his heart's content, walks back to the shelter, and congratulates himself by drinking heavily, reading books about guns, and passing out on a bench with his emergency blanket.

Theeeen rinse and repeat.

I...want to play, but everytime I try I find myself reminiscing on and encountering things I added, things I fixed, and such and just...lose the will to bother with it.

I keep wanting to play Cata again but it just can't hold my attention for more than an hour or two, and then I'll never touch that character again.

I did get back into X3 Terran Conflict again and I'm binging on it like I did last time, started a whole new game since I got bored of my empire from last time, and that save game had lag issues and some difficulties with mods not behaving well together.

Playing a Pirate Hunter kinda character atm and it's proving harder than it should be because the universe is determined to kill me.

I can't play cataclysm anymore either. Too convoluted. You know you actually have to take vitamins regularly now? They made it so you suffer vitamin deficiencies if you don't get all the vitamins and minerals. For example, scurvy. You can get scurvy if you don't get enough vitamin C or go blind if you don't get enough of some other vitamin. YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO BALANCE YOUR FUCKING DIET, OR YOU DIE. That isn't fun. It's tedious. Oh and the new character creation, where you get 6 points to spend, but cant spend more than 2 in any category or something like that and the perks/debuffs are severely limited so that you can't get many more points out of them. It's highly restrictive, but at least it's optional.

You can choose between the original max point character design or the one with multiple pools, FYI.

And I dunno. I still like it. My character basically eats nothing but cooked wild vegetables, vegetable pie, and vegetable pizza all the time anyways. Plus I've got lots of vitamins. They're everywhere in bathrooms and places like that. Also, found a working hatchback in the outskirts of the town. So that's pretty awesome. Gonna learn about mechanics then cover it in two-by-four armor and steak knives. I might write some stuff on the old forum in the Library starring this character.

Sounds like they're trying to make the game as tedious as possible, whats next for them poop mechanics? Where you have to manage when and how you excrete?

Recently bought Fire Emblem: Awakening,so I've been playing that. It's the one and only game I own on a 3ds I've had for about 2 years.

Cataclysm has forsaken everything that made it fun to me, and, seemingly the concept of fun itself, in favor of "Muh Realisms!". Its okay for a game to be realistic, but at some point you have to draw the line in favor of sheer playability, as otherwise no one is going to be able to stomach your fucking game. Old Cata, when I started playing, was more, as the dayz mod community put it, "Authentic" than realistic, in that it had a lot of realistic systems that made sense with each other, but made sacrifices for being fucking playable. The devs seem to want to ignore fun in favor of whatever demented system they stick their gaze on for the version. Random Dragon was probably the last dev who did not go out of there way to make the game as boring and tedious as possible.

Terrafirmacraft was a diet system that worked well, you had around for categories of food, meat, dairy, fruit, grain, and veggies. Each category goes down faster dependent on what is easy to get. Meat goes down the fastest while fruit and veggies go down the slowest. It feels a bit 'Game-y' but that was the point I believe. Cataclysm new system was to stop people just eating cooked meat or fried rice or what ever.
In other terms: make your diet system enjoyable, but not too realistic.

Tldr: terrafirmacraft's diet system is good while catacylsm's is shit.

Meh. I always horded vitamins anyway, so the nutrition system wouldn't bug me. It's really more just...meh. I guess it's that "former contributor" thing.

Amusing, though it's a pain in the ass to tweak spawn settings so I get some variety in weapons and monsters without it just becoming absurd. And even then it seems you see ridiculous monsters way before you see ridiculous guns. o3o
