Hey, I was a proud part of that feature bloat. At least, when the ideas were good ones that no one was willing to bother with. o3o

I was almost tempted to buy Ark instead of Rimworld/Prison Architect.
Then they released DLC and I decided the devs are literally Hitler.
get rimworld you dense motherfucker
Whichever of those you pick, get it on sale. neither game is worth anywhere close to 30$.

Yes, this.
Gone. Cheers guys.

$30 seems entirely reasonable for both of them honestly, it's like £20, considering the amount of work that's been put into both of them it seems fair.

I mean useless feature bloat. We already had a clothing quality scale, we dont need a separate scale to run with it!

True. At least I was doing things like adding shields and "block using armor" mechanics it required, or allowing mutation natural attacks to function while wearing certain clothes, or allowing fingertip razors to grant a butcher quality...

So, common sense things? That is ok. Still bitter about being given active mininukes by NPCs

It's entirely up to you, but it's less about the amount of work put in and more about the amount of work that's been put in VS the amount of content in the game.
That being said though, it's better than buying towns (abandonware) or gnomoria. (half implemented features because the devs decided to pull a Bethesda.)

A filth system would've still been fine if it had a PRACTICAL purpose, like increased odds of infection from injuries.

Didnt you add tanks?

I was listing vanilla features that required source code fuckery, but yes I did. :V

It has no practical usage, and that is what pisses me off. And it is also far to hard to deal with on top of everything else.

I can't seem to cut clothes into rags without a proper butchering tool either. Ripping a sheet into strips seems like something I could do with my bare hands, which the aid of my teeth to get the tear started.

Yes, that.

Quite seriously though, I played the fuck out of Rimworld for a few years, and there just isn't much content in it. Eventually you just run out of shit to do. I don't doubt it will be worth $30 when it's done because Tynan seems pretty aware of this and it has definitely improved with each release, but now it becomes pretty "eh" too quickly. Maybe I'm just burned out.

Same sort of thing with Prison Architect. The devs did a great job of building a game that's really fun when you're setting up a prison, and less fun when you're just sitting around tweaking things. I also don't really like that their solution was to add artificial difficulty in the form of tunnels, which are more a pain in the ass to deal with than fun. Gotta give them props for 3D mode and escape mode though.

Think the big issue I have is that neither stand up to DF, which is free and all. At $30 you'll get $1 per hour of fun, which is how I usually measure shit, but there's alot of other stuff that will beat the ratio here in my mind.
Gone. Cheers guys.

I guess that's the same problem I have with them. In the end, they just can't stand up to the juggernaut that is dwarf fortress. They are pale imitations in the end. Sure they are easier to learn, but once you do learn them the game play is over. They have nothing left to give and you paid 30$ for them. Honestly, I regret buying prison architect every time I see it in my games library.
The fact that rimworlds dev seems aware that his game might be a bit meh at the moment and wants to remedy that is hopeful for that game at least.

At least they aren't no man's sky.

On a note related to overpriced games, does anybody else here keep a list of overpriced games? My list is
Prison architect
Rimworld
Age of Empires 2 and 3*
Clockwork empires (it's ok though)
Oblivion and fallout 3**
Junk Jack (barely. It's good though)
The escapists (holy fuck it's overpriced for what you get)

*No idea why microsoft feels AoE3 is worth only 10$ less than the price they launched it at more than ten years ago. Seriously, 40$ for an 11 year old game? Fuck that. Get it on sale, that way you're at least paying what it's worth.
**A similar thing goes for Bethesda with oblivon/fallout 3. At least the prices of 20$ is at least somewhat reasonable considering you get the DLC included with that price

...doesn't that mean that scissors can't be used to cut rags anymore? >.o

Also, when I made fingertip razors grant buthering quality, I wanted claws and other viable mutations to also grant a low or negative quality. Guess who vetoed that? Ke vin.
