Cataclysm talk, thanks for pointing out the github random. I was just looking at it and it appears the mining thing has been approved? I think that's what the check mark means. Also, a complete refactoring of the cold system for the worse. A PR in which several experienced modders/developers asked "please don't do this" but the author crowbarred the idea anyway and someone approved it. As I understand it, this new change will be incredibly unfriendly to new players and older players new characters. Oh and a PR to add the ability to change the volume units used in the inventory. Thank god for "pierredavidbelanger."

Checkmarks and X's appear for all commits. All it means is that the commit passed the error-testing bot's review. It has nothing to do with dev feedback.

And it looks like some on the friostbite PR have advocated the saner idea of only making limb damage an issue after a long enough period of exposure, and suggesting the submitter remove the dumb, unrealistic "damage occurs when thawing instead of on tissues freezing" idea.

Meanwhile...I am pleasantly surprised to discover that this double-barrel shotgun automatically dumps the empty shells into your inventory. So if I want to go full Mad Max, I can saw it down and it'll freely fit in a normal holster.

That should mean that it doesn't need to be looked at with a big fat eye towards "does it make sense" and shit. I mean for fuck's sake, when I implemented Arcana mod it was 90% dumb shit with little practical value, and I didn't have to jump through hoops like that. :V

Either way I have the strong suspicion that Diet Granola Bar just wants to go goalpost-moving to preserve the "we will never have mining" status quo.

Well fuck him, then. God. Mining would be really cool, and it's not like there'd be no reason for it. We've got a good amount of tools made with copper, and the silver athame (and some other arcana stuff) may be hard to make unless you rob a jewelry store. Plus, maybe the process of making steel from the appropriate materials could be accurately added. Either that or iron could be used for some things, dunno if it is already.

I know steel can be reliably taken from lockers and such already, but still. It'd be fun. Though fun doesn't seem to be the end goal half the time anymore.

It does seem like iron is the one that's already useful. Hell, just it existing should be enough to support the mod.

That said, the issue they opened listed a SHITTON of ideas that seem like decent ways to make mining useful. Dunno how much gold I'd want to spend crafting batteries though. :V

I usually keep gold and silver around as trade goods. I just went looking for values just now, to make sure my use was still accurate and to my surprise, the gold and silver bars are gone.

Huh. I usually use them for reloading. Or constructing paper cartridges for mah old guns. Pepperboxes are freakin' crazy powerful.

And I normally use drugs as trade goods. Ones I don't really need are usually valuable enough for me to get most things. If not, I normally just kill the NPC.
