I've spent an incredibly long time researching the Sikh faith today.
So after ****ing up my application to the only well paying job around here, which effectively made it impossible to move out, and I said I'd need a miracle for it to happen, that exact thing actually happened today.
There's this thing where I live, can't exactly remember the name but it's basically where they sell you a house for £1 ($1.55 currently) and you then get a £30,000 grant ($46,471.50 currently) to fix the house up, the work is all done for you so it's not like you need to know anything about refurbishing houses. There's only 150 of these houses and it's basically impossible to find a house in the UK now so quite a few people will be trying to get one, but in the chance I do get it I'll be able to move out.
Now the reason I've been researching the Sikh faith is because it's in an area heavily populated with those of Sikh and Muslim faith, and having Muslim family I already understand a fair bit about the faith, but very little about Sikhs and if I'm going to live in an area where most people will be one of those two faiths then it's only polite that I know a reasonable amount about their faith. Plus I've always liked Sikhs, it's one of the very few religions I have unquestionable respect for and one of the few religions that doesn't have a questionable doctrine or history.
The only issues are that it's in a nice part of one of the roughest parts of my city, and arguably one of the roughest parts of the entire country. So the immediate area of where I'm living is reasonably nice but the area around it means I'm likely to get ****ing stabbed, although given the amount of Sikhs in the area I generally feel pretty safe, since there's pretty much no safer place to live than surrounded by Sikhs. Also if I do get the house I have to sign a contract saying that I can't sell the house for 5 years and have to have it as my main residence, so I can't move out from there for 5 years.
