So, uh, this is a controversial topics thread... about anything that you may consider "controversial" but you can't talk about the forums. I'll start I guess...

I think crime is unneeded, but if I had to, I would rob a gas station if I needed to.

I like my religion! And I'm okay with everyone else having their own beliefs and whatnot.
I don't really think that it's forced down the throat of anyone too much these days and I hate all the complaints by people saying it is...I mean seriously.

Children of religious parents are often unfairly indoctrinated. Adults trying to shove their beliefs down other adults' throats is less common, because it's easier to teach it to young children who are easily influenced.

And, admittedly, It happens with atheism too. (Just to show I'm not hating/picking on religion. :) )

I'm just glad my parents didn't do this, and let me develop my own beliefs.

Well, if we're saying that we can also look at cultural aspects in general.
Though it's impossible to not indoctrinate a child with at least some of their culture.
That would require not talking to the child and that more often then not simply causes the child to die.

I don't see how you made the jump from religious indoctrination to cultural indoctrination. Some cultural indoctrination is unavoidable, yes, but religious indoctrination isn't.

When a child wants to know where everything came from your response will shape their views. Even saying I dont know will lead them to various conclusions.
